SunnyReef is created by Łukasz Litwin (contact: [email protected]) as an independent hobby project.

What data we collect

None. SunnyReef does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on developer servers.

AI features and your data

SunnyReef offers optional integration with external AI models:

When you use the AI assistant:

  1. We send your question together with the aquarium data needed to answer it (e.g. parameters such as KH, Ca, Mg, NO3, test history, notes, ICP report content, and photos you attach for analysis) to your chosen AI provider only at your request.
  2. Your own API keys are used, which you enter in the app.
  3. Keys are stored in Apple Keychain — inaccessible to the SunnyReef developer or other apps.
  4. Data is sent directly to the AI provider over HTTPS — no intermediaries.
  5. The SunnyReef developer has no access to or visibility into your AI conversations.

Important — Google Gemini free tier: under Google's terms, content submitted through the free tier of the Gemini API (including your questions and the aquarium data sent with them) may be used by Google to improve its services. If you prefer to avoid this, you can use Google's paid tier or the Claude models — Anthropic states that data sent via its API is not used to train its models.
